Dr. Al-Qirim

Prof. Al-Qirim is Associate Professor in the College of Information Technology, UAE University. He is a passionate teacher and developer of different Information Technology Business & Innovation-Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Information systems courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He is also a keen researcher (citations 1151 by Sept., 2017) and his research interests are mainly in Information systems, entrepreneurship and education/pedagogy and it is mostly related to studying the adoption and diffusion of different “complex” technologies in different contexts using both qualitative (case studies, focus group, action research) and quantitative (surveys) methods. Technologies such as E-Commerce, Big Data, IoT, Cloud Computing, Social Web 2.0, Health Information Systems and Telemedicine, E-Government, Mobile Commerce, and education/learning technologies. The contexts included large and small enterprises; developed and developing economies and NGOs. He authored one research book and three edited books in the area of Small to Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and E-Commerce. He published more than 100 research papers in refereed and highly-impact international outlets (i.e., PACIS, AMCIS, ECIS, IFIP, BLED, EM, Computer & Education, ECRA, Medical Informatics, Telemedicine and eHealth, etc.). He lead/participated in several panels, workshops, conferences and journal’s special-issues. He is also a member in leading academic and professional associations (IEEE senior member, ACM, AIS) and in the editorial advisory board of several journals (JIKM, IJCEC, JECO, BPMJ, IJNOV, IDI, IJCA). He is active in attracting research grants, supervising postgraduate students’ theses. He is involved in the community through participating in different academic and non-academic committees. Dr Al-Qirim is in academia (UAEU, Auckland University of Technology) since 1999 and before that has around 10 years of experience in the IT industry, as a Business & IT consultant (1989-1998). This professional experience has shaped his teaching and research interests, methodology and approach.
